NHA Options - Helping you find a home

The NHA service has recently moved from Aspire Housing and is now managed by Midland Heart; however applying for a home in Newcastle remains the same.

Anyone looking for a home in Newcastle-under-Lyme can use our NHA Options scheme, have a look at our Scheme User Guide, it explains exactly how to access our scheme.

We advertise all available homes owned or managed by Aspire Housing as well as a small number of properties that belong to other Registered Providers, such as Sanctuary Housing, Staffordshire Housing Association and others as well as some private landlords.

From August 2014 NHA options is linking up with a great new service called Homes Direct. The website for Homes Direct is www.homesdirect.org.uk. If you are currently registered with NHA Options, there is nothing for you to do now. We will write to you during the week commencing Monday 21st July 2014 to explain how you will be able to start looking for a new home on Homes Direct.

All new applications made from the 14th July 2014 onwards need to be made at www.homesdirect.org.uk.

Homes Direct is a bigger and improved online choice-based lettings scheme. It will offer you more choice of homes within the borough and outside the borough of Newcastle under Lyme and will make it easier for you to apply for homes as you will be able to manage your application yourself. For example, with Homes Direct you will be able to register, update your details and make changes to your application straight away, without having to wait for us to check it and get back to you. Instead, you can get straight on with bidding for any suitable property you are interested in.

Existing customers should log in by typing their user name and date of birth into the log in panel on the top right hand side of the screen.

if you need any assistance with this website, the NHA team will help you, please call; 0345 850 9698.

Bidding advice

It will help you when bidding for a new home to choose areas and property types where you are most likely to be successful. We publish information that shows how many property types we have in which areas. It also shows how many became available in the previous year. This will give you a good idea about the best places to bid.

There is no restriction on how many bids you place per week, but if you refuse a suitable property, you may have your application suspended or demoted. We ask that you consider carefully the area and locality where you place your bid, and ensure that you are placing bids in the area that you would accept if you were made an offer.

Six Month Review

If you have been asked to respond to the waiting list review and you do not contact us, please note that your housing application will be cancelled.
